My tablet died and no matter what it will not charge. I do not want to have to break it open
@staticalliam7 you can try a new cable and a new charger. If that is okay, you will have to open up your Kindle. The issue could be a bad battery or a bad charging port. Both of these would need to be replaced by opening your Kindle up. Kindle Fire HD 8.9" Repair There is no way to fix it without opening it.
