I recently performed a battery replacement with an iFixit kit for my MBP and now it takes up to sixty seconds to find a wifi connection after powering or waking up my machine. What could cause this?
Open up your WiFi settings and look at the list of the AP’s you have. First thing I would do is remove any that you know you’ll never connect to again. Next alter the order so the top most listed is the one you use most of the time and then the next used and then the next… Hopefully you are using less than five or so AP’s. An issue you can also encounter is the system is connecting to the slower 2.4 GHz Vs the 5.0 GHz. This often happens when your AP name is the same for both. I do recommend you alter the names for each so ACME_2-4 And ACME_5-0 instead of ACME. That way you can each one listed and can chose which you want. Another issue you also face is when you have multiple AP devices in your home each one is discreet so your list is large and you can encounter issues when you move your system to a different room loosing the first AP’s connection. This is a classic case of needing mesh WiFi! Then you have your collective WiFi network and each node within it works in unison as one network AP name.
