I was leaning into my truck when I heard a dreaded crunch… my iPhone had pressed into the seat adjuster and cracked. Upon checking it, the screen was black. I went into a darker room and noticed the back light was still working. I left it alone for a bit to see if anything would change. When it didn’t, I held down the lock button and managed to turn it off. I had a broken screen at home I had previously replaced myself so when I got home I dug it out. However, once connected, it will only power up long enough to show a black screen, several white vertical lines, and one red line that blinks. Everything I’ve managed to find online about it is unclear as to whether or not I should give up and buy another phone. Is my phone done for or are there other things I could try?
Ideally you want to try a new or preferably a known good screen. Using an old one that’s been laying around for a while, while a logical approach, leaves some uncertainty. However, considering the stress the phone may have gone through, it’s possible that the logic board was damaged. That’s why you need to rule out the screen with certainty first.
