Why is a grey gritty powder on the floor in center front of my machine (kenmore front load washing machine 40272900). It feels a bit like concrete dust. It seems to happen if the spin cycle becomes loud.
There are concrete counterweights in the front of the machine. We had a Kenmore front loader, and one weight broke in half. The raw edges rubbed and made the powder. After a while a loud banging was heard at the weights became loose enough to bang against the front panel. These can be replaced-in our case I used liquid nails adhesive to stick the weights together (I also drilled into each halve, and put a threaded rod in place as a splint).
