Red lock light is on and I cannot start my dishwasher. How do I unlock?
For future reference, if the red “LOCKED” light is on and you have reset the circuit breaker, you have tried holding the heated dry button for 4+ seconds, you went from alternatively pressing the “Heated Dry” “Normal Wash,” Heated Dry," “Normal Wash” and “Cancel” buttons, with no luck and are ready to throw the whole thing off a 50 story building or set it on the railroad tracks, there’s one more thing that you can do and odd as it seems, will work where these others have failed. Open and close the door so that it’s ready to sense the keypad then press and hold the “Top Rack Only” button until you see the red “LOCKED” light flash then go out. When it goes out, you are out of “LOCKED” mode and can run the dishwasher like before. Since the control panel gets locked due to some really poor design by Kenmore, you have to find the right button to clear the lock. 9 times out of 10 it will be the “Top Rack Only” button but if that does not work, then try other buttons, one at a time, pressing and holding until you see the red “locked” button go off. For two days I screwed with this thing, trying everything I could find online. Even the Kenmore manual says that if it’s not a breaker that was tripped and the washer is loaded correctly, then you have to call a repairman. BULL! You just have to clear that fault in the control panel. Hope this helps!!
I have the Kenmore Elite Ultraclean dishwasher that i purchased in late 2017 and it was the SANI RINSE button that i held down for 3 seconds to clear the “lock” light.
@ritz to turn the lock off try to press and hold the NO HEAT DRY or AIR DRY button for 4 seconds or of course until the light turns off. If that does not work you want to disconnect the power from the dishwasher by shutting off the breaker. After 5 minutes, turn the breaker back on. Let us know if this will work for you.
Hi @L W. For model 665.14703N510, try the following: To turn on Control Lock:Press and hold TOP RACK ONLY for 3 seconds. Locked will light. If you press any pad while your dishwasher is locked, the light flashes 3 times. NOTE: The dishwasher cannot start if the control is locked.To turn off Control LockPress and hold TOP RACK ONLY for 3 seconds. The lights turn Off. NOTE: You may need to disable Sleep Mode by pressing either START/RESUME or CANCEL/DRAIN, or by opening and closing the door before you are able to turn off Control Lock.
I tried almost all answers. What worked for me… killed power from breaker in panel took the screws that hold the door cover to expose the circuit board Unplugged circuit board, held for 10 seconds. Then reinstalled the board. The buttons started working as they should. Good luck
