Solved Why Is The Finder Opening And Then Unexpectedly Quits Macbook Pro

This is a 17’ MacBook Pro (A1229) that has not been used for a log time. I bought a new battery and it starts right up. Right after completing booting up I get a message screen that my finder has unexpectedly quit. I click on Relaunch and it does the same thing.

Check if the OS and its patches are up-to-date, if this doesn’t resolve the issue then reinstall the OS.
