Satellite 2455-S305 screen is extremely dim. Laptop does function but need a strong flashlight on screen to provide enough light to barely be able to read. Have tried reboot but no difference. Have never tried to use external video and don’t know how. Can anyone please help.

Hi, It seems as though the backlight is not working in the LCD screen. This could be due to several reasons. Faulty backlight inverter (here is a link top an example -http://www.laptopinverters.net/toshiba-s… ), a fault in the power supply from the motherboard to the inverter (e.g. blown fuse on motherboard- which would have to be investigated as to why it blew),a faulty connection to the LCD screen or a faulty LCD screen itself. To connect an external monitor, you need to connect a monitor which has a vga input. On the back of the laptop there is a vga port to connect the monitor to, using a vga - vga cable.

your inverter is damaged (high tension )
