Chosen Solution

I accidentally dropped my phone in a sink full of water. I took the phone out right away, took the back off, and put it in rice. I took it out a few times after that to check it and when I did it still turned on and worked. However, at one point when I took it out the screen flickered and turned black. I put the phone back in rice for 24 hours and took it out a day later. When I tried turning it on it turned on, but the screen is still black and I can’t see anything. Is there anything I can do to do fix this?

Jess, the very first thing you want to do is to no longer try to turn your phone on. The second thing you want to do is to clean your phone. If you do not clean it properly, you are running risk of having corrosion damage in the near future. Disassemble your phone completely and clean everything, especially the logic board, connectors and cable ends with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol. Use a soft brush to gently clean every “nook and cranny”. Check your board for any missing or burned components. After that replace the battery. Re-assemble your phone and re-evaluate. Rice will not prevent corrosion nor repair your phone. If you still have a totally blank screen after that, it is possible that it is A: a bad LCD backlight (replace the LCD) or B: a short on the circuitry on the logic board. Let us know what you find. Hope this helps, good luck.

press both, the power button and the minimize volume button for 30 sec. My phone worked after that again!

sounds like the phone is dead, it is possible that the cable that is connected to the screen came loose so check that but otherwise sorry.

I experience this one today. I use my phone on taking photos while I’m in the pool. At first, the phone only detected that there is a moisture inside my port. Until I decided to used a hair blower to get rid of it. And then, there is no longer notification. Afterwards, I charged my phone. A few minutes later, an indication of moisture detected. And so I detached the my phone to charging cable. Then, I use my phone to take photos again. But then, when I turned it on, there is a sign of damaged lines like there is a darker lines and normal lines. And I thought this won’t last. Then, I took pictures only in front camera since there is a sign of moisture inside the back camera. And so this suddenly happens.. After taking photos, I do edit pictures through phone. And suddenly, with a 26% battery, my phone blacks out. ??..I started to panic since I’ve tried all the solutions I have searched in the internet. And I finally, decided to open the phone trying to fix it myself since I can’t afford to pay repair for this in the service center. I found some areas wet. And I tried to open it using the Power On + Volume down. But still nothing works after cleaning. (I didn’t do unscrew anything). The last thing I did today was use an UV sanitizer that I bought in the midst of pandemic. I only put the phone that I opened at the back in the UV Sanitizer (for about 10-15s) and I use the solution I found on making it open ( Power On + Volume up for a 10s). And viola my phone is now working. I am so happy that I want to share to everyone what I did to fix my phone (S10e). Hope it works for you also. I think UV devices can help dry the moisture inside the phone. Feedback me at alleyiahshyne@gmail.com

I have this problem too… I accidentally dropped it in the water, immediately picked it up, and took it out of the case. I had the back glass removed (it was already cracked and I had a spare lying around) and I replaced it. During that time, I had a heater on and heated (I think) heated the water out of the phone. After that, it was perfectly fine, everything worked as intended and nothing was out of the ordinary. But just now, after a minor drop, the phone stopped displaying… touch screen works, accepting calls, and fingerprint (albeit I don’t know if I actually got to the homepage or not) works. The damage on the phone before was at the bottom corners, not sure if that’s helpful or not. Can someone help? Thanks
