Why won’t my MacBook Pro (mid 2009) 13” boot? A little back ground on the Mac. I was using it less than 12 hours ago before I went to bed, and everything ran like normal. I shut it down and sat it on the table. I ordered a SSD and it came in the mail the next day and now I can’t get the MacBook to boot. So I pulled the back plate off and noticed there was a liquid residue coming from under the battery. I’m in the process of cleaning out the liquid. Quantity of the liquid is less than a drop or two just noticed it when I was taking off the back plate on my fingers. When I press the power button it started by making a spinning noise coming from the hard drive location, but no chime. Black screen. The fan would spin up and idle. Front indicator light would flash as computer turned on and then go off. The battery indicator just flashes. The computer won’t boot nor will it charge. ( no light on the Mac charger) charger will charge other 2009 Mac book.

I’ve never seen liquids coming out from lithium batteries. I believe first step is to take apart as much as you can of the Mac and try to determine the extent of damage caused by liquid, where it reached and where it does come from. Give a check at the heatsink you will find on the flip side too. Stop trying to turn it on whichever way, until you have completed the inspection and taken care of the liquid.
