Hi all, My ipod classic went dead on me, no biggy, until it would’t charge(I notice when pluggin it would get warm/hot under the clic wheel near the play button). I replaced the battery, and it turned on just fine. With the new battery it still will not charge, gets warm/hot and does not register to ANY power souce. The battery is still charged form the factory, but since it will not charge I am not using the ipod Any suggestions? Thanks.
grampdc3 you would have to take it apart and take a look at what might be causing this. Heat usually means there is a short circuit. Check the battery connector, it has a tendency on this model to come loose on the logic board. There are really no components on the click wheel side of the board that could generate heat. You do want to check the dock connector as well to make sure that it does not have any bend, broken or corroded pins. Worst case scenario is a shorted out power management IC. Use these guides to work on your iPod.
