My iPhone was damaged over the weekend and the screen was shattered. I ordered a new screen and replaced it yesterday and everything was working fine except the earpiece and proximity sensor. I took the phone apart today to fix it and my screen went black in the process. I have checked all of the connections, especially cable #3 and nothing looks out of place. The phone is still working as I can receive calls, emails, etc. I removed the lcd from the glass and it does not look broken at all. Any suggestions as to what is going on? This is the 3rd time I have replaced my screen within a year and this is the first issue that I have had. Thanks!!
I would first try to reset the device: press and hold the home and the sleep button at the same time until the phone restarts - that should take around 10 seconds (if you have it connected to a computer, you should hear a disconnecting sound) - let it boot up and if you’re lucky - it will be fine - if not, we’ll have to dig deeper
Try Take apart again, and remove the logic board, to kill all power to it. Leave apart for a while to drain power in chips etc, Re assemble BUT do not try to turn on until the screen etc is reconnected, I have had the same problem on a few phones, it happens if you try connecting the screen while the phone is still poered on, it must have some sort of safty feature thats reset after disconnecting the battery Keith
hold down the lock button and the home button for about 10seconds until the apple logo comes up then wait about 2 minutes.
A couple times my iPhone 3G got dead., though it was fully charged. In the phone bost guy said battery need to replace ,but he didn’t have one.i went home tried both button simylteniously until silver Apple apears on the screen. Than sign of the power, and it worked. But I think it is something wrong with phone . Just to reboot I tunes solve problem temporary.
The ribbon cable may have been compromised on the digitizer. I had the same issue and replaced the screen with a different on and worked meaning the problem lies with the digitizer or front display assembly
I had the problem with my phone going dark and/or completely black and sometimes unresponsive. If you can still see your icons, even just a little bit, then go to your Settings icon and select, then scroll down to General and select, then scroll down to Reset and select. You will get several options. I selected the “Reset All Setting” and this changes the settings, but leaves all the data and content on the phone. Apparently my phone has been going dark for quite some time and now it is bright and clear. I will just have to go back through my phone to see if there are any settings I need to change as it has been so long that I don’t know if I would remember what I had them set to. So far the Locations; Wi-Fi; Bluetooth; etc. settings need to be reset.
FIXED I tried reset, restore and everything else, but it was just a simple loose connection error. If your iPhone is still ringing, but screen is blank, most likely the wire connecting screen to board is loose. Open your iPhone and push the connector 1, 2 and 3. be careful about 3 , jyst pressing 1 and 2 would suffice and you will see a live screen. how to dissemble: iPhone 3GS Teardown
