I just changed the battery of my 5c. Everything seems to work well except for:
- the battery does not charge, although it shows the lightening symbol,
- the volume buttons do not work.
- I don’t think it matters but the phone was missing one of the two pentalobe screws (I bought it refurbished 2 years ago) The phone was working fine before the battery change. The only difficulty I run into while changing it was that the adhesive tapes broke and I had to use a hairdryer to loosen the battery. I would very much appreciate any help since I am a rookie at ifixing!!! EDIT:
As Stu suggested, you could simply have a poor quality replacement battery. However, there is also a possibility that you accidentally dislodged a tiny component next to the battery connector. This is a common error with DIY fixes as the part can be gouged out with a fingernail while disconnecting the battery connector. Take a close look, preferably with magnification to see if anything is missing (see highlight in image below).
If that looks good, then consider contacting the battery supplier about a replacement unit.
Maria, did you use an offshore battery for the replacement? I replaced my battery with an offshore replacement and my iPhone was doing the craziest things after the replacement. It was so screwed up I ended up putting the original battery back in. This could be your problem.
