My iphone jumps percentages. ( for example when it was off the charger it was at 87% plugged it in it goes to 90% unplugs it back to 87), (at 14-20% resets phone jumps to 70 when turned back on), ( staying on a percentage when on the charger and not moving.) Now it constantly reboots starting today. I ordered a new battery. Cleaned the battery connecter and charger port with 70% alcohol and cleaned the small corosion on the charger pins. Why does it keep restarting ? the screen turns grey for second then it restarts its on 82 and its constantly rebooting after being on for about a minute. Should I get a new charger as well with the new battery or is it another issue?
Did you unplug the battery before? Sometimes the small components right above the battery connector get knocked off when you unplug the battery, especially happens when you accidentally pry under the battery connector instead. This can cause incorrect reading of battery percentage for battery and random shut-off rebooting. Most of the time it is just a bad battery if you have not replaced the battery before.
I suspect your battery is reaching EOL,
It could be battery problem. But may I know what is your iOS version? If you are on iOS 10+, your device may reboot usually. Your device could not support iOS 10 or higher firmware very well. So it is normal when your iPhone 5 often reboots on a high iOS version.
