Okay, so I have a customers iPhone 4 AT&T. She told me it got wet, but none of the water damage indicator stickers have turned red. It displays the ‘Connect to iTunes’, and while restoring it, it almost finishes, but then stops. It will sit on the red battery symbol charging for about a half hour, then it will display ‘Connect to iTunes’. If unplugged, the process starts over and will sit there for an additional half hour. When connected to a computer, it isn’t recognized by the computer or iTunes. There was some corrosion and visible damage on the dock connector, so I replaced it. It still took about a half an hour to charge and display connect to iTunes, but I’m letting it sit for another half an hour to see if it will hold the charge. Any ideas? I will update you after I unplug the phone and try to transfer it to my computer.

Thanks mike! I was starting to think the same thing. I had a battery laying around and I swapped them out and in fact it started to function completely! Thank goodness. Problem solved!

Bad cable connection Check the USB cable for damage and dirt, especially at the ends. Then try using the wall charger, as this will provide greater power input than the computer/USB. Broken charger or USB cord Try using different chargers to see if you may have a problem with your charger or cord. Obstructed/bad dock connector Inspect the 30-pin dock connector at the bottom of the iPhone for dirt, lint, and damaged pins. Clean out the dock connector very carefully with a tooth pick or soft toothbrush. If the dock connector is broken, you will have to replace it. Use the VOM. God bless you

Same problem but I did change battery and though it is not recognized thru iTunes or wall charger, if left long enough like overnite it does actually charge up. Charger connector port? I have cleaned it out, nothing in there - perhaps that went bad but why does it still charge then? Eventually the iPhone 4 charges if left in long enuff but again it recognizes nothing!! Help me somebody!!!
