Chosen Solution

I have a Kenmore side by side fridge (made by Whirlpool) that is not making ice at all. After reading the possible causes on line I found three potential causes:

  1. faulty water control valve
  2. faulty ice making unit
  3. faulty cooling thermostat I already replaced the water filter and the water is running fine to the water dispenser. Does anyone know how to distinguish between those three options which part I need to replace to fix the problem?

Check the on/off switch. Manually fill the tray and see if it works. Here’s a short video on the on off. I’m thinking that something is not telling it to turn on. I am concerned about the paddles getting frozen down and it may have stripped a gear trying to work.
