I recently bought a used iPod nano 1st gen. I hooked it up via usb cable to my computer, it charges fine but it is not recognized by my computers USB removable hardware. I have 4th GEN nano that works fine the same USB cable. I tried resetting the 1st GEN nano and it doesn’t solve the problem. What could it be?

Hi, maybe its formatted to MAC and you have a PC. Set the iPod into Disk Mode and then restore it via iTunes. How to set the iPod into Disk Mode can be found here: http://www.command-tab.com/2006/03/30/hi… The combinations of the 5th Gen iPod should work for the nano too. If not, let us know and we will search for the right combination.

same issue, except I can’t use disk mode at all. can still use radio remote and listen to the 96 songs i’m now stuck with
