Why is it that my phone has no sounds?

Hi, Have you checked that you are not in Airplane mode? Press and hold the Power button on the phone to show the pop-up menu to select from ‘‘Ringer mode / Airplane mode / Power off / Reboot’’ Have you checked the Sound settings in your phone? Go to Home > Settings > Device > Sound Tap to enter all the available sub headings, Volume, Phone Ringtones, Default Notifications etc., to see what the settings are. Update (11/23/2016) Hi, If you can hear people on a call, but not when you choose the ’loudspeaker’ option this proves that the loudspeaker is either faulty or has become disconnected from the systemboard. If you cannot hear people on a call at all it may be that you have a faulty earphone socket. Try plugging in a set of earphones to check if you can hear people when they call. The loudspeaker is the speaker used for all the tones and sounds used by the phone. The receiver, which is a separate ‘speaker’ is used for listening to voice calls etc with the phone held close to the ear..

Just had my Alcatel IDOL 4S phone serviced at the Microsoft Store. After having a problem hearing with the headphones, I rebooted the phone but then ran into a problem with not hearing callers unless the headphones were used, or unless the phone was connected via Bluetooth… I was told there is a known bug with this phone where the telecoil option is turned on and prevents callers from being heard. He just went to Settings - Ease of access - More options, and turned Telecoil OFF. PROBLEM SOLVED…

Hi @ Daniel Killuyiop, Try starting the phone in safe mode and check if the sounds are restored. If they are then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one. You need to uninstall each downloaded app one by one and test the phone between each uninstall to see when it works OK. When it does then the last downloaded app that was uninstalled was the culprit. You could also try deleting the cache partition from the system recovery menu and check if this restores the sound functions

Hi @ Donna Stallings, What is the make and model number of the phone? If possible try using the earphones with microphone attachment or try using the phone in “loudspeaker mode” when making or receiving a call and check if you can be heard OK. If so, there may be a problem with the phone’s internal microphone or perhaps the voice inlet hole at the bottom of the phone is blocked with lint etc. Try using a vacuum cleaner to see if it clears any obstruction from the voice inlet hole. Do not use a pin or probe to try and clear it as you may damage the microphone which is located directly behind it. If still no good, the phone will have to be opened and further diagnosed as to what is wrong

I have no sound at all at times.. Restart phone and sound but after a bit the sound disappears..

I’m operating with an Alctel A392A. The problem I was experiencing was that after trying to send a call or after receiving one, the phone would stop sounds (both at the remote location or on my phone). After receiving the manual, I noted that item 10 (on p. 6 of the manual) is a volume control. When the phone is in Call mode, pressing this key (which is on the left side of the keypad half when the phone is held as shown on p. 5 of the manual) it will Mute the remote end of the call. That seems likely to cause the symptoms identified above. Solution: Hold the phone so your fingers are touching the phone exactly on the ends of the hinge. If your fingers slip down to the keypad level, you may inadvertently squeeze what is the “mute” button during a call. That seems likely to cause a loss of connection with the symptoms described above. In other words, avoid squeezing the lower half of the phone on the left side when you’re making or receiving a call. I’ve tested this approach on several incoming and outgoing calls. So far this suggestion has worked.

I don’t know if this will help anyone, mines had the sound problem , but I reset everything to default from the back up and reset section and it’s working fine now , you just have to set back your settings to how you had preferred it . Phone’s an Alcatel 5044R
