Hello guys, yesterday I wanted to clean the fans of my Late 2009 Macbook. As I finished cleaning it, I replugged in the Battery. But as I wanted to boot up my Macbook it just wouldn’t. I don’t know if it is related to the Battery because I had to instantly shut it down yesterday before cleaning the fans. I tried several times to plug it out and again plug it in but with no results. The L-Shaped Magsafe Adapter hasn’t got any light either. As I press the Power button it simply doesn’t power on. Not even the HDD or the fans boot up. Thanks in advance if you can help me.
In my experience the keyboard ribbon is very short and a precision connection with not much “wiggle” room . If this cable is pulled accidently You will get this situation of no apparent power. Magsafe will show normal charge etc. but no boot.
Ege - How did you clean your fan? Did you remove the battery first following this guide? Battery Removal using a plastic spudger. Did you use can’ed air and a soft brush to scrub the fan blades and heat sink fins? And lightly scrub the logic board to loosen the dust? Did you unplug anything? I suspect you may have knocked something loose or zap’ed your logic board (ESD or short) - Hopefully not. Inspect the mag-safe contacts (both sides) and dirt or damage? Use some Isopropyl alcohol to wipe them down. I would also try a second mag-safe power adapter (is the cord worn, cut or bumpy?)
I agree the mag-safe board is not the issue here, I do wonder if you damaged something in the process of taking the fan out. Did you have a hard time unplugging the fan? As to the power button it is connected via the ribbon cable to the logic board you can see in this picture.
But, I don’t think thats your problem either. I would look carefully around the fan to see if you crushed a wire in the fan harness (shorting). Are you sure you didn’t disconnect anything else? Also did you use proper ESD practices?
The magsafe board probably broke. Try replacing it.
