Okay so my phone was face down on my table beside some soda & my brothers dog knocked it over and the screen had soda all over it. I cleaned it off but my home button wouldn’t work, and it would only stay on the home screen. I tried to turn it off but the power button would only screenshot. I can’t access any apps bc it just goes straight back to the home screen. I put it in a bag of rice for two-three hours , so maybe it would dry out. When I got it out & turned it on, it still did the same thing. What do I do? I dont have the money to buy a new one.

It seems that after the spill the home button is constantly sending a signal that the home button is pressed. First thing to do is get your phone open and assess the liquid damage inside the phone (especially where your home button is). If you notice any corrosion or liquid in the phone I would fully disassemble it clean up all the components with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol and a soft bristle brush(tooth brush). Once the the components are clean and dry reassemble the phone. I would also look into replacing home button.
