Solved Why Does Water Pour Down When Changing Filters Refrigerator

When I remove the old water filter inside my GE model GSS23WSTASS, water pours out until I can get the new filter installed.

The only reason that I could come up with is that when someone installed the water line to the fridge I’d say that they didn’t install a shut off valve on the line before the filter. So I’d suggest before u change the filter again turn the main water line to the house and turn off the water and put in a shut off valve anywhere on the line before the filter.
