Chosen Solution
Watching tv,any channel and/or movie, sound cuts out constantly for 3to5second intervals
Hi, Here is a link which may be of some help. Try the ‘Sound Test’ first ( if it is available on your model) and if it doesn’t help with finding a solution try the ‘Reset’ option and see if it helps. http://www.samsung.com/au/support/skp/fa… Also, if you have an headphones connection on the TV, try it and see if the problem exists. It may be a ‘speaker’ problem as opposed to an audio one.
Turn off the Anynet setting. It’s highjacking the TV and causes this problem.
As Jetson said (and I tried this today and it seems to have solved the issue (which I have lived with for two years!). Go into your settings on the TV and find Anynet (which if ‘on’ turn ‘off’). It solved the problem. The only issue seems to be that I need to manually turn the volume off on the TV because Anynet used to turn the TV volume off automatically when I used my AV receiver. That said, it’s lovely to watch TV without the constant breaks in the sound - I am going to report this to Samsung….
TV - U50KU7000KXXA Sound bar- HW-MS550 Sound ‘hicups’ on tv speakers and soundbar using HDMI or optical audio connection. I put my ‘HDMI Audio Format’ to Bitstream and ‘Audio Format’ to PCM and it sorted it out. I have no clue what it all means but it worked……luckily, because the next adjustment was to be a brick through the screen.
I bought my 55 inch flat screen samsung “smart” TV last year during black friday and have had the same problem. The only fix I have found is using an apple tv instead of their smart hub.
Turn off dolby. I don’t have suraround sound or anything special, but when I turned off Dolby my Samsung 43" tv sound is perfect. Hope this helps some of you.
I am having the same problem. I have my home theater receiver connected to my tv, and the only port it will allow me to connect it is on the HDMI ARC port. It will not send the sound to the receiver unless it is connected to the ARC port. Which also means, I must have anynet turned on at all times. The second I disable anynet, the tv speakers turn on and my home theater receiver becomes a really expensive home decor piece. However, anytime I have anynet enabled, my home theater works, but, I get hiccups in sound randomly whenever it feels like it… usually at the most important parts of a dialogue, so I rewind to hear what they said. it’s annoying. I bought this tv two weeks ago, for 1100 dollars, and honestly, I don’t want it but I can’t take it back, so it’s going into the closet until I can find someone to buy it. There is no solution to this problem. It’s just the way samsung makes tvs. My old LG tv about 10 years old, no matter what HDMI port I plug into, sends sound to my home theater receiver, and there’s no such thing as anynet to be found, or an ARC port. It’s all bs with no solutions. No solution will ever be made either, so don’t look for one. It’s a complete and total waste of time.
I did the anynet and seems to be working. Amazing. I really didn’t think about it until one night in bed I realized that my tv upstairs didn’t do it EVER! So I googled and found that the anynet off is working. Give it a try and I hope it works for you.
TV - Samsung QN55Q8FN
Soundbar - Sony HT-CT350
So turning off Anynet+ did the trick, but now how am I supposed to use my soundbar w’ the tv? The moment I turn off Anynet+, the soundbar disconnects from the TV.
Changing the Anynet to off and turning of DolbyDIgital didn’t work for me. I had to change the video quality from HDX to SD. This problem only occurs on videos or movies that are HDX through apps like VUDU. I agree this is absolutely frustrating. I spent $800 for a samsung tv. I shouldn’t have to deal with this crap. Get it together Samsung!!
Hi Mark, I’ve disconnected anynet now and just use the TV speakers which has fixed the issue. I mainly watch Netflix / Prime / YouTube etc through my Apple TV box which goes through my Receiver so the impact is not too bad, but it is however ridiculous that I can’t listen to the TV through my receiver. When 8K TV is cheaper I’ll be switching to another manufacturer.
I have the Samsung nu6900 using optical audio into an older yamaha home theater receiver. The sound would cut out for 1/2 second intermittently. As per a recommendation on another site I installed a Easycel Audio Digital to Analog Converter DAC ($14.99) in between my tv and the receiver. The optical out of the TV goes into the DAC and the output is a left and right channel RCA which goes into the receiver. Set the TV to PCM, (NOT Bitstream). I no longer have audio cut outs AND the audio from the receiver is better. My conclusion is that older DAC in aging receivers cannot process fast enough compared to the new DAC I used. Good luck!
No answer just same issue but with LG tv (2013 model). Everything works fine and then all of a sudden the sound is gone but picture is fine. It happens more with watching video via the iPad through to the Apple TV and on to the TV set. The Apple TV is 2012 but updated. The iPad is iPad Pro 9.7”. I don’t have cable - watch tv thru over the air signal. And all movies through Apple TV. It seems to happen whether watching Prime, PBS, Youtube etc. it happens some with just tv over the air but not as much. It just comes and goes…turn it off and back on and it works fine. Sometimes It goes off again in just minutes, other times it’s hours or days. Very frustrating.
I just wanted to chime in because folks were hanging up on Samsung and I don’t believe this is just a Samsung issue. Can’t figure it, I’ve closed and shut down everything, hard reset the iPad, checked setting on the tv to make sure no energy savings or mute was set to come on.
Going to call Apple to see if they have any ideas.. The only thing I know that is different is Verizon (my internet provider) did a recent upgrade to the service (900+ mbps) and some folks had to get new routers but I already had an upgraded router.
Maybe my sound is just going bad on the tv though it’s only a few years old. Best Buy did say the sound on many of the newer tvs don’t last long and he suggested getting a sound bar but it’s seemed to be fine and I don’t have but so much space - just room for tv.
Hi @poetheraven1 , Have you checked that the TV volume is set to at least >50%? How far from the docking station are the headphones when being used? It should not be >10 metres (30’) with preferably no obstructions e.g. walls in between, as this can limit the distance that it can work correctly. Try connecting to the docking station from another audio source (and the TV as well if possible) using the other connection method available on the docking station i.e. RCA audio cable (cable with red + white RCA plugs at each end) or 3.5mm to RCA adapter cable i.e. 3.5mm plug at audio source end, RCA plugs at docking station end, (has the TV got a headphones jack?), to check whether it is a Bluetooth problem between the docking station and the headphones or perhaps a problem within the TV or the connection type between the TV and the headphones. What is the model number of the TV?
I have solved my intermittent sound issue. I have a QN65Q6DRAF tv. After setting it up I found the sound was dropping out intermittently for about a second. After searching the web on several occasions I ended up switching to PCM which I was not happy about so I went back and disconnected my BOSE Acoustimass sound and just using the tv speakers. Problem went away but sound quality degraded. Further searching I discovered that a post saying the sound signal might be too complex for my older sound system. I purchased a new Samsung Soundbar HW-Q70R This fixed the issue with the sound dropping out. For those who care there is more to this story. Now my sound is lagging the video when using the HDMI ARC connection. After a bunch more time spent on the internet I have ended up with my cable box into HDMI port on the soundbar and then using the ARC connection to the tv. Fixed sound but now my PS4 and Apple tv are left out so I purchased an Insignia NS-HZ335 3 in 1 out HDMI switch. The out from switch to HDMI in ARC out to tv.
I don’t have any cables or sound bars connected to my tv. It’s just plugged in to the wall and uses wifi to watch. It cuts out all of the time. I changed the Audi to PCM and turned off the anynet . Nothing works. It’s the only Samsung in my home and it will be the last.
