My ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA laptop’s screen goes dark when I unplug it from the power adapter. More specifically when I unplug the computer from charging the screen is barely seeable, its not a brightness issue, you really have to look at it to see whats happening. Then when you plug it back in, everything works like normal. I have tried everything like changing the battery, updated drivers, changed Intel’s graphic settings, pressed the brightness buttons the opposite way, and changed power options. But nothing works, is there a hardware/software problem I don’t know about that does this? Is there something I haven’t tried?
Hi @glenta , You could try starting the laptop in “safe mode” and see how it works, just in case it is an unrelated driver problem. (search online for “how to start -insert your particular OS - in safe mode” if you don’t know how) If it still fails when in safe mode but it works OK when on the charger but not when it’s on the battery only, then I’d suspect that the battery is not able to supply the necessary power and the laptop is scaling back on what needs to be kept powered on. I’d start by replacing the battery and then see what happens. Even rechargeable batteries have a lifespan. Here’s a link to the ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA Battery Replacement guide, which may be of some help. Replacement batteries are available online. Just search for ASUS Transformer Book Flip TP500LA battery to get results for suppliers.
