I have a Singer 7462 Electronic sewing machine. When the foot pedal is depressed the electronic beeper beeps and lights flash but the sewing machine doesn’t sew- I tried suggestions from Singer site but it didn’t solve the problem. No sewing Machine repair in this area.
The Singer Athena will do this when the bobbin is threaded backwards… Sometimes it will sew for a few stitches - bunch the threads and then stop. Once that happens it will simply beep and not operate. Troubleshooting on bunching (a separate subject) can be done by loading distinctly different colored threads top and bobbin (bottom) and see which color thread is bunching. I know this sounds almost as stupid an answer as “is your machine plugged in and turned on”, but truly it’s easier to mislead the bobbin than one thinks. Hope this was helpful.
actually your problem is your bobbin winder!!!! flip it back to theright position if its flipped with no bobbin it shuts down
Hi I think there is something jammed in your sewing machine: motor belt, bobbine, gears. etc. Try desconnect it from main and clean it. Then try to rotate it forwards and backwards looking for the part that is stuck. Some times the nylon gears breaks and get the machine out of order and stuck. I hope this hints may help you, Sully
My singer 7422 turns on I can hit reverse button and it works but does nothing when pressing pedal anyone know y
On the plug in part that plugs into the machine, from the foot pedal, around the metal rod, is a tiny lip of black plastic. This needs to be cut off around the metal rod that inserts into the machine. The little thickness of the plastic, about 1/16 of an inch, is preventing the metal rod from the foot pedal from making proper contact by not allowing it to go far enough into the plugin hole. Take a small knife or razor blade and cut that little piece off. I just got lucky figuring it out. Happy Sewing—Jesse 12-31-2016
I would remove the bobbin area pull out any lint and reapply. Typically it thinks it feels a string. If not, replace foot pedal
Just solved my problem of whirling noises and machine not working. It was where I had wound a bobbin on the top, but the bobbin shaft had not been clicked over correctly , so the bottom of the machine was still switched off.. Simple, but very frustrating, hope this helps someone. Check this out before doing anything else if you hear that noise!
You may have pressed the “Reverse Operation Button”, or “Reverse Stitch Switch”. I found on my machine that in Reverse mode, the machine does one stitch and stops with flashing lights. Solution : Press the Button (it is near the sewing needle, and has a U and arrow sign - it is beside the U and 3 sign)) to set machine into normal mode.
My C240 was doing something similar, just beeping, not picking up a stitch, the needle wasnt coming down. Apparently I twisted/ broke the cord for the foot pedal. When I disconnected the wire, and used the button on the machine to sew, it worked. Will have to get a new pedal if I want to use that method.
