The screen displays anything that should be black or dark coloured comes out as a grainy green. Like for instance, when watchin a video the black bars on the the widescreen is green. Ive tried upgrading my system and the problem persists. Any recommendations?
Hook your laptop up to an external monitor to help narrow down the source of the problem. If the picture is good on the external monitor the problem definitely is not a video/graphics chip problem and is most likely a bad controller board attached to the LCD. If the problem continues on the external monitor it is either a driver issue or a hardware problem. Please give us the last 3 characters of your serial number so we can determine your exact machine.
The problem that you are describing sounds to me like a graphics card issue. If you could post your system specifications, found by clicking on the Apple symbol on the menu bar and scrolling down to About This Mac. This would help greatly.
Other then changing parts, reseat the display cable for the screen first If it is clean on a external monitor, it might be the display cable, try replacing that If not, it’s the LCD like ABCellars said
After reading this thread I simply pushed the screen back and forth several times and noticed the colours flickering. Eventually it came good… so must be simply a connection issue.
Hi, I’ve got the same problem. The flickering disappears when I apply some pressure around the RAM socket. I’ve already tried to mess around with the display connectors but nothing happens. It works fine on an external display so I guess it must be a connector issue rather than a GPU problem. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for your help Ps: It’s a macbook pro 15" mid 2009
