When the tv is powered on it starts flipping sources and channels and will not respond to any remote changes. Occasionally it will power off too. If you unplug from back of tv it will work sometimes but lately it takes several times before it will finally work correctly.
You remote control could be malfunctioning , to know if its sending a signal when its not supposed to take a camera or cell phone and video the remote from the front of the remote . there is a infrared light in the front of the remote that we cant normally see but the filters in your camera will allow you to see it . if you see the light on when your not pressing any buttons you’ll know there’s a problem with the remote. Then take a look when pressing buttons. This may not be the problem but at least you’ve crossed of the possibility of a bad remote off your list
Sarah, by your description I would suggest that you replace the touch and IR function board. Part number BN96-07244B is a substitute and should work for that. Yes, you will have to partially disassemble your TV. Take plenty of pictures so we can help you with that.
