Every time I get a notification, I turn my ringer off, or I do anything that involves my phone vibrating, I get this weird rattle sound. It is very loud and annoying , I have to keep my ringer off 24/7 especially during school. I have looked up answers and people have said it is a loose screw or something of the matter. What should I do?

At this point, your iPhone X is probably still under warranty. If you have easy access to an Apple Store, I would make an appointment and have them take a look. Make sure you back up your phone first because if Apple decides to replace it, they won’t do anything to retain your data.

The clicking sound is a problem with the taptic engine failing. Your best bet is replacing the taptic engine - iPhone X Taptic Engine ReplacementThe taptic egnine itself is a very cheap part, around $10 USD and most phone repair shops would probably charge less than $100 to fix this. As many mentioned before, you will lose the IP65 (waterproofing) rating. You would hope apple would replace this part under an extended warranty program, but they don’t really care about their phone users much. It’s most likely planned obsolescence. fixit, and your iphone X is good for another 5 years at least. Can’t believe people are suggesting to turn off vibration. What happened to this community. This is ifixit, not iworkaroundit or idontcare. However, turning off “System Haptics” is an option, if you don’t find loosing all haptic feedback.

y does apple have to make 1k phones so cheap. like at least make the screws a little tight. i’m started to hate how apple try’s to save every penny.

If going to Apple isn’t an option (which is your best bet for sure) then just open it up and see what’s inside. I open iPhones every day and it is not uncommon for there to be a screw loose. The iPhone X in particular is pretty flimsy inside near the top of the phone. You will lose some waterproofing when you open it, but other than that it isn’t a huge deal to open and iPhone X with a little bit of heat and some patience. If you do it, then you will likely get declined by Apple for any problems in the rest of your warranty period.

Hi Michael, I guess that i have the same problem. Could you tell me if you fix your Iphone?

My father is having the same issue with us iPhone XR and we are confused. I’ve tried turning it of and on, turning vibration off, airplane mode, but nothing works.

See a lot of people having this issue. Go to settings and type in sound at the search bar at the top, type sound, tap ringer and alerts. Scroll down to the bottom and turn off sound and haptics. Thank me later.

guys just turn do not disturb on-(the little moon) and it will help at least a little

My silent button is pushed in and my volume buttons I can not use them and my phone makes a wierd vibrating noise it’s not even a real vibration noise. And my back screen is starting to unattached from the metal

I realize this is an old post, but I had a similar problem with my iphone7 lately. I tried shutting the phone off and back on, but nothing happened. I went to settings to turn off vibration as the rattling noise was extremely annoying. Surprisingly, it just took me to change the vibration from the default tone to something else then back and voila..the problem is gone. I am not sure if this will work for everyone but I thought of dropping this here in case it helps.
