I’m using an old Philips Photoframe for a visual art project that I’m working on; it’s worked fine over the past 2 days but then it started switching itself off after being turned on. It boots fine but just switches off while the home page is being loaded. Could I have turned power save on without knowing it (the photoframe worked the same time yesterday and the day before) or is there a genuine problem? The charging mechanism seems to be fine.
Hi, Thinking about your question again, I do not think that the Smart power setting will be the problem. As you have not finished ‘booting’, by reaching the home screen, it seems more likely that you have a firmware glitch. As there are no firmware updates available from the Philips website to see if reloading it would solve your problem, my only suggestion now is to try and reset the device, by removing all the power from the device, (I know you said that you have already tried pressing the reset button) . Disconnect the charger, remove the battery and then press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to remove any residual power from the device. Reinstall the battery, reconnect the charger and then see if it starts normally. If it does you may find that you have lost all your pictures as I do not know if the memory is of the volatile or non-volatile kind. I’m thinking non-volatile because they wouldn’t want you to lose it if the battery went flat. Just so you are aware of the possibility.
