I installed a new Whirlpool dishwasher and some water is left in the tub at the end of the cycle. I have to run the dishwasher drain cycle once or twice to drain the remaining water. The filter is clean, the dishwasher is level and the drain hose has no visible obstructions. I utilized the same drain hose that was used by the previous dishwasher which was installed by a plumber many years ago. That hose was looped around twice below the dishwasher and then connected to the drain. This results in about six feet of hose looped around and an additional two and a half feet before going to the high point and then down to the house drain. I have two questions: 1. Can the long drain hose be the reason for the problem? 2.Did the original plumber loop the hose twice below the unit because of a code requirement or some other relevant reason or can I go ahead and shorten the hose? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
The only requirement is to have the loop where the dishwasher drain hose is attached under the sink. I’d remove th the drain hose at the plumbing and clean out the drain
