Chosen Solution
After display problems would come and go gradually got worse, from onset, I opened it to find now only black and white lines with a liquid looking distortion in bottom corner. I have NOT dropped it ever. I got the drop and spill coverage but under warranty was told it was OS. Not covered???? Then I discover though I bought it new it had been purchased 2 months before a claim filed but then dropped and returned within 30 day period. Yet, Worst Buy had simply boxed it, no repair and I am out of year warranty.
Sadly, it sounds like the display got a hit or something heavy sat on it. The other possibility is the logic board got wet by sitting it down on a wet surface. The video data connector is somewhat exposed if you’re not careful. To help to isolate out whats happening try plugging in an external monitor (miniDisplay port/Thunderbolt). Does the image on it look OK? If it does then you’ve isolated it out to the internal display circuits. At this point I would stop until you have exhausted out your other options.
