Chosen Solution
Like the title says, my keyboard only functions properly when the palm rest is pressed down in a certain way. Most of the time, the home row keys will not function and the other keys will work perfectly fine.
Sounds like a loose connection. Turn off and turn laptop bottom up. Go to and read repair guide: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5-1570 Motherboard Replacement Look at the Step 3 photo where you will see 4 ribbon cables connected just above the battery to the right end. The 4 cables are: Finger scanner cable.Touchpad cable.Keyboard backlight cable.*Keyboard cable (the largest ribbon cable on the right). All connectors for flat cables unlocked the same way. Lift up the 4th connector locking tab and pull the cable out and then reinsert it pushing down the connector locking tab. Put the cover on without screwing back on, turn the laptop right side up and turn on and test the keyboard. Does it work?
