Chosen Solution I have checked the power adapter using a multimeter (19.35VDC output). Verified that the AC port (connector to motherboard) has good continuity. The big issue is that neither of lights illuminate to indicate battery or AC power. I’m thinking the CMOS battery? Any thoughts? Any help would be great. Sounds like a bad component on the motherboard. Be easier just to replace the motherboard if you can find one cheap enough....

Chosen Solution Thanks for the help so far, here’s what’s happened: I downloaded ‘ubuntu-9.10-desktop-powerpc.iso’ from the link given by David. I was surprised to find it was 705.3MB (5.3MB too big for a CD) so I followed the instructions on the site word by word but used a DVD instead, Disk Utility says: ‘could not be completed’. I have now downloaded ‘ubuntu-6.10-desktop-powerpc.iso’. It fits on a CD and now I can boot from it, thanks for all the help with getting it to work....

Chosen Solution New A plus won’t switch on after 1st charge. phillipa0902 , Try holding the power button in for up to 10 sec’s to see if it will power up. Try charging the phone 3-4 hours again and try powering on. If it is still not powering on return for replacement/repair /refund. Find link below for your manual. Good luck.
