Chosen Solution Hi, I have a trusty old MacBook Pro Late 2008 that I have been trying to clear of data ready to sell / pass it on. Mainly want to transfer photos in iPhoto. It has been working fine then all of a sudden it refused to power up. I tried resetting SMC to no avail. Now it seems the only way I can get it to boot is by removing the battery, removing the power lead, pressing the power button for 10 seconds, plugging the power cord in whilst still holding down the power button for a further 10 seconds, then letting go of the power button and then if I press the powers button again it fires up....

Your breaker may be off on one side or the heating element may be burned out on one side thus only giving you 1/2 normal heating....

Factory reset did not resolve the issue, is there anything else that can be done to resolve the issue? Boot your phone in safe mode and see if you are able to boot. Chosen Solution So when I turn on my Receiver from Standby mode it briefly powers on then makes a signal noise error like you are watching static television then the Receiver turns off and a Red Ring flashes around the Power button. I have tried opening the tv hutch door where the Receiver is at to give it more ventilation because I think that could be a possible culprit. Where do I go to set it up on settings cuz maybe that will help me? Apple has a guide for adjusting the Touch ID settings here, but it sounds like it could be a software issue....
