Chosen Solution After replacing the front panel and digitizer the bottom part of the touch screen doesn’t allow me to go to mail or internet or phone or ipod and the rest of the touch screen is off by one application if i touch the second app on the top row it selects the top left app. REALLY FRUSTRATING!! It does sound like your digitizer is malfunctioning. Make sure that you have the right digitizer, there is a pretty good probability that your 3G is actually a 3GS and it could cause this....

Also in the the text names of many functions in the toolbar have been replaced by alphanumeric designations, ie: TL9, TL11, TL8. In the Menubar they are replaced by numbers preceded by N, FV, ME, LB. As you look at the drive from the bottom, with contacts on the top, you have an extra set of 4 contacts to the right of the center two sets of contacts. Here is the teardown, it is straight forward and no glue issues at all. Well worth to take it apart to see if it can be repaired. Hope this helps, good luck. Not worth the effort. The power brick is filled with powerful glue and the screws are glued up, it’s a pain in the S to take it apart....
