Chosen Solution Whenever I try to connect my tablet and charge it nothing happens. First, check the charging cable to make sure it isn’t damaged or not fully plugged in. If the charging cable is in fine shape, the charging port is the problem. Check to make sure there is no debris (lint, dirt, etc.) inside, and the actual port itself is not damaged. Assuming that the tablet is charged you can attempt a hard reset of the tablet by hitting the reset button located on the back of the device. If it does but still does not work when connected only on the battery then it seems as though the battery is failing to hold its’ charge. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span. I suggest that you set your BIOS to see if you can boot from either the optical drive or a USB drive and see if your system comes on....

I tried with a charged battery from another A1286 and the machine starts up just fine. But it says “Not charging”. So I changed the MagSafe card. I know this MagSafe card works because I have it in another A1286. It is till not charging and the machine will not run off the charger, only on battery, which it does not charge of course....
